UCCSC 2002, July 28-30
Berkeley hosted the 2002 University of California Computing Services Conference July 28-30, 2002. More than 300 people
attended the event which featured presentations on new emerging technologies, wireless, e-business, educational
technology, security, and a whole lot more. Guest speakers included Ruzena Bajcsy the director of CITRIS (Center for
Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society), Jack McCredie the Chief Information Officer and Associate
Vice Chancellor for Information Systems and Technology for the Berkeley campus, and Daniel Greenstein the University
Librarian and Director of the California Digital Library.
The conference theme Improving Life Through Technology focused on collaboration to develop innovative technology
that tackles some of society's most pressing problems. The conference atmosphere provided attendees with the opportunity
to exchange ideas and talk about specific issues and challenges they face as technology evolves. Campus reports were
given through Sunday evening's poster board session, and many Birds of a Feather sessions provided another venue of
informal exchange on specific campus topics.
Next year's conference will be held at UC Irvine. The official UCCSC list serve is maintained at UC Irvine:
